February Favourites

Another month into 2020 and here at My Vintage we have been busy finding more antique and retro treasures for you to enjoy. From vintage dresses to mid century homeware and men's fashion to vintage costume jewellery; we are always working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring you the very best in vintage and retro fashion.

My Vintage is a family run business and we have been collecting vintage clothing and accessories for over 15 years. It is most certainly a hobby turned into a business and we are just so passionate about curating our collection and constantly evolving to bring you the best of the best. We source, repair, clean, press, measure, photograph and price every single item to ensure it is brought to you in the best condition it can be. Our dedication to our business definitely comes from our love of what we do and the satisfaction of the amazing feedback we receive both online and in person from our shop customers.

So as we head towards the end of February, I have gathered a small collection of my favourite vintage pieces of the month. As always, these items are all available and in stock at the time of posting this blog post, but they won't be around forever so if you see something you love then grab it while you can!

SEWING PATTERNS

Dress making is a skill I do not possess, but I am very envious for those of you that do! If you are into sewing then you will be thrilled to learn that we have started to add vintage sewing patterns to the website. We only have a handful online right now, but hundreds more to catalogue and add over the coming weeks and months. Here are a couple of my current favourites...

HANDBAGS

A vintage handbag is such a great investment. It can make a beautiful and unique gift and will normally appreciate in value if taken care of correctly. Let's not forget that this is a bag that has already been around for many decades and in most cases will be very well made from superior materials and will last many more. I have chosen a few of my absolute favourite vintage bags currently available but we always have lots in stock...

A bit of understated glamour with this stunning light gold lamé evening bag. Wide, pleated fan shape with snap closure and gold chain strap. I absolutely love this and it would work with so many looks from 20s Gatsby to modern metallics.

I simply adore this original 1950s vintage handbag! It's so retro and quirky but totally original, such a gem of a find. The kitsch plastic cherries at the front give that extra rockabilly appeal to boot.

SHOES

Another key accessory that can completely change the look of an outfit or create a whole new one is a fantastic pair of shoes. If you are a shoe lover then you simply must search for vintage shoes as there are so many gems hidden away in vintage shops and online stores, from basic to designer with so much style. Take these original vintage Biba shoes for example, absolutely stunning and a real piece of fashion history...

A rare find, we have never seen this particular style in many years of collecting and selling vintage! Almost a t-bar style shoe, the upper has cut-outs to either side and the shoes fasten with an outer buckle. The 4" heel has a slight hourglass shape and the shoes have a rounded point at the toe.

I also love these gorgeous light silver grey leather high heels with an unusual silver grey panel at the back of the heel. The panel has scalloped edging and cut out stars and is super pretty. These will be perfect with so many dresses and give that retro edge.

JEWELLERY

Finally, I have chosen a few pieces of vintage jewellery that I have been loving this month. We stock so many different types of jewellery from vintage beads to vintage bracelets and retro earrings to original vintage pearls. Whether you like large statement jewellery or prefer smaller and more delicate pieces, My Vintage will have something perfect for you.

I love the nautical style of this chunky vintage bracelet in goldtone. Whether you team is with a breton top and jeans or add it to a more glamorous outfit, it's such a great little piece and comes in under £20 so makes a great gift too.

I'm finishing with my absolute favourite item of the month - these stunning designer vintage earrings from Givenchy. The chunky matte gold is totally on trend and the fact they are clip ons means they can be worn by anyone whether they have pierced ears or not. These earrings have bags of style and would make the most amazing gift for any vintage lover or designer aficionado!

I hope you love these vintage treasures as much as I do. Don't forget that they won't be around for long so if you love something then grab it before anyone else can. Remember...

Until next time...
