My Vintage Favourites - September 2020

A big hello from me and I really hope you are all keeping safe and well in these crazy times. We have had another busy month with lots of new customers both online and in the shop, which we are super grateful for. It’s so exciting sending out vintage treasures all over the world and getting such amazing feedback from you all. It’s also so lovely to meet you in person and find you new outfits and treats in the shop, and of course seeing old faces slowly coming back to shop is great too. As always, we have been beavering away behind the scenes sourcing, cataloguing and photographing new stock for you which we add to the website each week.

So of course it’s that time again where I gather together some of my favourite recent additions to the website! Let’s say hello to my Vintage September favourites!

Dresses

The print of this dress is just absolutely amazing, depicting pre-Raphaelite style flame haired women in circular frames. The maxi length and angel sleeves are so typically 70s and it’s just one of those dresses that will really turn heads. Absolutely stunning!

I absolutely love this original fifties dress, a classic wiggle dress that is super versatile. You could wear this for work, special occasions or evening out and really change up the look with different accessories. You could stick to the monochrome palette or add a pop of colour like red or cobalt blue with shoes, bag and costume jewellery. It’s such a flattering fit and will be a wardrobe staple for sure.

This cool seventies day dress has such autumnal vibes in crisp burnt orange. It has such an intricate and unusual pattern and the simple a-line shape is flattering on all figures. You could team this with a cropped denim jacket and trainers or even layer it up with tights, boots, scarf and cardigan or jacket. An absolute winner!

Tops

Another great versatile piece is this vintage shirt in blue stripes. This looks great worn smartly with high waisted work trousers or a pencil skirt but also looks fab with jeans. It would also be a great short to wear with dungarees or a dungaree dress for a pop of colour.

This is such a fab cosy jumper that’s perfect in-between seasons. You can throw it on over a dress or t-shirt if the day gets colder and it also makes a great statement piece to mix with jeans, denim shorts or leggings. And who doesn’t love a bit of heart print?

This is probably my favourite pick of the bunch this time around! Such a cool acid wash vintage denim shirt from the eighties. It’s adorned with original 1988 Barcelona Olympics patches too. This is quite a thick denim so it’s ideal to wear as a jacket or even for layering. It would look super cool over a roll neck knitted dress with tights and chunky boots or even with some vintage shorts and a retro t-shirt or simply thrown on with some joggers. An absolute must have!

Hats

I love hats, they just don’t love me back! But that’s ok, as I get to see my lovely customers wearing them instead! This leopard print faux fur hat has real Jackie O vibes which makes it a total winner for me. Team with a chic black dress like the one above, or with a matching leopard print faux fur coat for a total statement look.

1960s Style Red & White Patent Baker Boy Hat

For that total 1960s Carnaby Street look this baker boy hat is perfect! Classic panelled style in a glossy patent finish in red and white. And as this is a retro hat, you get the full sixties look for less! Team it with your sixties vintage dresses and coats, or add to a more modern outfit - there are so many options!

Nothing says chic quite like a beret, and a vintage beret is even better. This vintage Kangol beret is stunning in deep green, perfect with the brown and orange autumn hues. This will suit anyone from blonde to redhead to brunette too, and is also a great investment piece as these will always be collectable. Whether you’re new to vintage hats or not, this is an excellent choice, thumbs up from me!

I hope you enjoyed my favourites for September. I have to admit, I’m really loving the cooler weather and the promise of cosier times ahead. No matter what is happening in the world outside, cosy evening snuggling up with blankets and hot drinks will always be my favourite. Bring on the autumn!

Until next time
