I can barely even believe I'm saying this but happy August! If you are in the UK you will know that we have gone from the most intense heatwave to an onslaught of torrential rain and storms. I don't really know why I'm surprised though, this is the great British summer we are so famous for! But despite the weird and wonderful weather, it's been a lovely few weeks in the shop. I am starting to see lots of faces again, both old and new and many without masks too - it really warms the heart being able to see smiles again. I think there has also been a real shift in general atmosphere, with shopping generally feeling more relaxed and less tense no matter if you choose to wear a mask or not. And of course there are also now more occasions happening again like weddings and parties so it's great to have events to shop for again and dress up and feel pretty!
Of course we have been adding more amazing vintage clothing and accessories to the website and we have had some great new arrivals so I wanted to give you a run down of some of my absolute favourites. So without further ado let's take a look at the New Arrivals for August...
VINTAGE DRESSES
This is just such a classy and stunning piece from the vintage Peggy Couture label. In stylish and popular mid length, this dress is a gorgeous pale mint green chiffon. High frill collar makes a fantastic feature and double darted bust gives shape and style. Fully lined, non stretch and back zip fastening. Great with or without a belt, and classic enough for any special occasion. In very good vintage condition.
Gorgeous 70s vintage Victoriana maxi dress in stylish monochrome. Black with white bust panel and white trim to neckline, panel and sleeves. High neck and wide angel sleeves with full length skirt. Black waist ties to cinch in and tie at the back. Slight stretch polyester fabric with back zip fastening. In very good vintage condition.
Have a fabulous vintage summer with this beautiful seventies dress. Light white poly cotton fabric printed with a graduated floral print in orange, navy, green and red that gets more concentrated towards the bottom. Hemline printed with a pretty fruity pattern. Sleeveless with an open collar and fully lined. Non stretch with back zip fastening. In very good vintage condition.
VINTAGE SHOES
We love these chunky gold sandals from Barratts, in their original box stamped 12th August 1970. T-bar style with slingback strap, side buckle and gold sequin and bead detailing. Open toe with chunky 2.5” heel. Sole approx 9.5" x 3". Worn but in very good vintage condition.
Pretty and stylish stiletto heels from the 1970s, made by Gala. Marked Gala, Rua Augusta 147, Lisboa. Pointed ties with cream panels and strappy side details. Sole measures approx 10" x 2.75". 3.5" stiletto heels - the tips have degraded so would benefit from new tips. Quality leather and craftsmanship. Otherwise in very good vintage condition.
These classic vintage stilettos shoes are a versatile black suede with a quirky checkerboard detail on the toe. Made by Holmes High Life in the late 1960s. Sole measures approx 10” x 3” and approx 3.5” heel. In original Holmes box marked Black Suede/Gunmetal Glow Court Size 6.5B. Have been lightly worn but in very good vintage condition.
VINTAGE TROUSERS
We love these vintage trousers from golfing royalty Pringle. High waist and wide leg trousers in a light green, yellow, orange and grey check print. Double button and zip fastening and belt loops on the wait and. Two side pockets. Light and comfortable non-stretch cotton blend fabric. In very good vintage condition.
Great pair of designer vintage trousers from Yarell. Loose wide leg fit in a silky mixed animal print fabric in beige, brown and black. High waist with thick waistband with slight elastication at each side. Fastens with a front zip and button. Fully lined and slightly cropped length at 25" inside leg. Non stretch and in very good vintage condition.
Wow! These 90s trousers are an absolute dream. Wide legged and high waisted, the clever shaping across the tummy is also very flattering. Light non stretch fabric. Side zip fastening and self fabric tie belt. In very good vintage condition.
VINTAGE HANDBAGS
This is such a cool vintage bag from the 60s with a nod to the flapper style of the 20s. Made by Contessa Francesca, this pouch style bag is complete with a round accordion gate closure. Gold lurex with beading and diamonds sparkling shapes. Measures approx 5.5" x 5" with a 6" strap drop. A couple of very small marks but generally in very good vintage condition.
We love this stunning little vintage evening bag from the early 1960s. Vivid apple green with gold shimmer effect and matching gold metal snap clasp closures and gold chain handle. Plain green lining. Measures approx 6" x 6.5" with a 5" strap drop. In very good vintage condition.
This is such a stunning vintage Empire Made evening from the 1960s. Pale gold satin pouch with beautiful gold beading and beaded starburst design. Gold snap clasp closure with gold snake chain handle. Measures approx 8" x 6" with 6" strap drop. A few missing beads but not very noticeable and generally in very good vintage condition.
