I think we can all agree that the weather is COLD right now! I have to admit, I am a big fan of winter so I'm not complaining, but I also love to feel warm and cosy. This is partly why I love the cooler seasons because dressing in winter fashion and layering is my absolute favourite. Vintage knitwear is the perfect addition to your autumn/winter wardrobe and if you get the right pieces they can offer real versatility and allow you to create some really fantastic outfits.
This week I am shining the style spotlight on some awesome vintage knitwear from our current stock. I have tried to include a good variety of styles, colours and sizes so I am sure there will be something you love. Dogtooth knit is such a classic vintage design and this is also from the iconic St Michael. Navy and cream dogtooth knit in a chunky boxy style cardigan with contrasting gold metallic buttons. Full button front and four faux front pockets. Thick acrylic knit with a little stretch. Label states to fit 33" bust but ties measures bigger so could be worn oversize on 8/10 or more fitted on a 12. In very good vintage condition.
Super cool 80s vintage sweater coat by Jeffrey Brownleader, in cream and light grey knit. Big chunky knit with padding and lining, can be worn as a coat. Big chunky plastic button at neck and hidden inside waist ties. Padded shoulders and ribbed cuffs. This vintage coatigan is quite bobbled and has a few small marks but overall is in good vintage condition. Label is size 18 but can be worn any size from 6-18 depending how slouchy you want it to look. Such a great 80s piece.
Fabulous monochrome vintage cardigan from the revered Pierre Cardin. Black and white swirled design with plain black trim to neckline, cuffs, hem and centre trim. Full button front with high neck that can be buttoned or left open as a collar. The angora blend gives that fluffy texture all over. Overall in very good vintage condition for age.
Pretty vintage jumper from the late 1980s in neutral beige and brown tones with highlights of icy blue. Pretty patchwork design with snowflakes, shapes and flowers. Slightly bobbly as you would expect from vintage knitwear, but overall in very good vintage condition.
Fab chunky and oversized jumper in shades of grey and black. The front has a checkered design with strips of black faux leather. Big cosy roll neck and dropped shoulders - perfect for that oversized look. Stretchy wool/acrylic knit. On close inspection there are some bobbles and plucks to be expected from vintage knitwear, but looks great on. Light removable shoulder pads. Good vintage condition.
Cosy chunky knit cardigan in a lovely rich autumnal burnt orange colour. Edge to edge style with collar and chunky striping detail to the knit. Full stretch acrylic/wool knit. In very good vintage condition.
Super slouchy long jumper from 90s Sophie Teale. Black chunky knit with pretty gold beaded heart design to the front. Freesize, measures 40" bust so will fit up to a UK 16 depending on desired fit. The longer length means it could also be worn as a short jumper dress. Lovely smooth knit with small shoulder pads, a really great piece. In very good vintage condition.
Timeless and uber stylish jumper from Royal appointed luxe label Aquascutum. Soft knit in classic black with decorative gold buttons in a v-shaped pattern to front. This classic vintage jumper is not only the highest quality but will also look very contemporary for years to come. In very good vintage condition.
Vintage 1980s royal blue batwing jumper with large embellishment to front. Satin feel starburst to front with diamante, bead and sequin design. Wool mix material, slight stretch, very good vintage condition, ribbed hem and cuffs.
We love this stunning 70s vintage cardigan, made in Scotland by Kintyre. Pretty mustard shade in pure new wool edge to edge style. Patterned braided border round collar, front edges and small front pockets. Fastens with two gold buttons and loops at the neck. Stretchy. Has been worn well but is still in very good vintage condition.
