Top 5 Work from Home Outfits

Updated: Jan 31, 2021

Remote working has become something of a norm for many people since the pandemic hit early in 2020 and it's claimed that working from home permanently is set to double in 2021. This has meant a lot of home offices have had to be set up and having team meetings on Zoom calls is a regular feature. One of the many areas that this has changed is in our everyday workwear. Whilst comfort is most definitely key, it is also important to be smart and presentable on camera. Even if your job doesn't require any online video calling, it is still important to have a set of work outfits to change into in order to get into that working mindset when the commute to the office is nothing more than a few steps into another room.

Especially during the colder winter months and through to the freshness of spring, it's key to be warm, comfy and cosy as well as feeling like you're wearing more than just pajamas or loungewear. Even if you want to cheat the system a little and wear some comfy joggers or yoga pants on the bottom, top half dressing is where it's at. Instagram influencers and Youtubers have been doing this for some time - full makeup and coiffed hair with some killer earrings and a gorgeous top on camera and below the lens some grey stained joggers and odd socks!

With this in mind, I have picked out my top 5 cosy work from home pieces that will make you look and feel like an absolute boss but can still be teamed with your comfiest NSFW bottoms!

1. Vintage 1980s Red Heart Icelandic Style Jumper UK Size 12/14/16 - £25

This original 80s vintage jumper in a gorgeous shade of red is in a super cute Icelandic style. Tiny hearts and flowers are knitted into the design. Full stretch knit with high round neck, ribbed cuffs and hem. Complete with those 80s shoulder pads! Wear with a red lip for work during the day. Looks great with jeans too for those chilly evening walks.

2. 1980s Vintage Abstract Print Slouch Jacket UK Size 10/12 - £28

This longline casual slouch jacket is oh so 80s and so easy to wear. Abstract pattern print in blue, black and beige. Collared and open with two gold buttons at the bottom. Two front pockets. Light and comfortable non-stretch viscose fabric. In very good vintage condition. Throw this on over a black or beige tee or body suit or even over a plain stretchy loungewear set to take it from bedroom to boardroom in an instant.

3. 1970s Vintage Kintyre Mustard Wool Cardigan UK Size 12 - £35

I absolutely love this stunning 1970s vintage cardigan, made in Scotland by Kintyre. Pretty mustard shade in pure new wool edge to edge style. Patterned braided border round collar, front edges and small front pockets. Fastens with two gold buttons and loops at the neck. Stretchy. Has been worn well but is still in very good vintage condition. This is another super versatile piece that looks great with jeans for leaving the house but also offers a smart yet cosy option thrown over something plain and comfortable to put you into work mode on a chilly morning. Cue the compliments!

4. 1980s Vintage Black Aquascutum Jumper UK Size 14/16 - £48

If you're a lover of designer vintage then you will adore this timeless and uber stylish jumper from Royal appointed luxe label Aquascutum. Soft knit in classic black with decorative gold buttons in a v-shaped pattern to front. This classic vintage jumper is not only the highest quality but will also look very contemporary for years to come. In very good vintage condition. It's simple and stylistic but it speaks volumes, a messy bun and a touch of mascara is all you really need to add. Perfection!

5. Vintage Laura Ashley Argyle Knit Cardigan UK Size 10 - £28

Finally I have picked out this cute and cosy retro cardigan from the iconic Laura Ashley. This 100% lambswool cardigan is in pale grey with an argyle type knit pattern to the front in lime green and pink. Full button front and full stretch. Label is petite so the length is a little cropped. The top button has been slightly overstretched but still in very good vintage condition. This is one of those cardigans that will look amazing with a pop of colour on a hairband, tee or earrings or will liven up a more monochrome look. A classic label and a timeless style, you can't go wrong.
